ACEA: new registrations of commercial vehicles continue to increase in the EU

ACEA today released data on new registrations of commercial vehicles in the European Union. In total, there was a growth of 4.7% in the first half of 2018, and in June alone, the increase was 7.3%, which represents a total of 247 thousand vehicles registered in that month.
Semi-annual data were boosted by the Spanish market (+ 10.9%), French (+ 5.0%), German (+ 3.7%) and Italian (2.1%). On the other hand, in the United Kingdom there was a fall of 3.5%. In all, 1,282,100 commercial vehicles were registered throughout Europe, of which 1,066,703 were light commercial vehicles - 5.1% more than in the same period of last year, 195,191 trucks - an increase of 3.4% and buses (which are also included in these accounts) totaled 20,206 units, down 0.9%.
In the national case, 21,175 new units were registered, an increase of 3.0% over 2017. Of these, 19,305 were light commercial vehicles (+ 3.3%), 2,325 were trucks (+1.0 %) and 245 buses (+ 5.6%).
It should also be noted that in June alone, 4,758 new commercial vehicles were registered in Portugal, representing an increase of 11% compared to June 2017.
