As cinco lições de liderança de La Casa de Papel
Portugal
You've probably heard of the La Casa de Papel series, a Spanish production for Netflix, which became a success. The story is based on a group of eight thieves who rob the Spanish Mint in order to make a big assault. This was thoroughly studied by the "Professor", the main character of the story, who, according to the skills and abilities necessary for this purpose, recruits eight criminals, each one expert in a particular area. The goal is to infiltrate the House for the time needed to print 2.4 billion euros and be multimillionaires.
La Casa de Papel's leadership lessons are amazing!

1) Knowledge is power
The Professor, who performed this gigantic plan, carefully studied relations with all parties involved in the assault, the characteristics, movements and behavior of the police, hostages, public opinion and the team of assailants themselves. This knowledge helped him to anticipate situations and to anticipate the steps that he would have to take when faced with them. The same happens in companies, having the maximum knowledge is important, as well as studying the relations with the different parties, knowing how they act, to be able to anticipate the steps to take and to have an alternative plan for the moments of crisis, if it is required.

2) Team choice is key to success
The Professor chooses very carefully each person in the team, each with a specific knowledge on a certain task, so that they complement each other. A good leader, in addition to being especially careful in selecting the team, contemplating the individual capacities in the whole, must also be able to manage with prudence the different personalities and this can only be achieved by mastery of emotions and an assertiveness present in the critical times. All this, always maintaining the motivation of the team.

3) Investing in planning is essential
Planning is essential for a project to succeed. The Professor assembled the team, five months before the assault, to detail the detail, the project. In this way, the goals became clear, each knew his mission and how his work fit into the work of others. In addition, several scenarios were identified, possible obstacles identified, and ways to overcome them were studied, without compromising the final objective.

4) Training must be a priority.
As important as preparing the action is to simulate it, so that the elements have a quick response to the event. During the training months, the Teacher was preparing the team by creating examples of real situations, with questions that made them think beyond the obvious and using metaphors to more easily come to the answer. A good leader should not leave the formation of the team in the background, at the risk of totally failing to reach the goals.

5) Unforeseen happen
It is inevitable that unforeseen happen. The Professor did not expect to fall in love with the Inspector, but it happened! If in history these moments are turning and represent a dramatic peak in the teams too. The leader must be prepared not to drop the team into demotivation when unforeseen events occur, causing them to change the perspective and see the positive side of the situation, even if at that point it is not totally obvious.
