CMA CGM launches
Portugal
Three years after the first tests, CMA CGM announces the commercial launch of the "smart" containers developed with Traxens.
In practice, the proposed solution is based on a connected equipment which is installed in a container and allows to know, in real time, its location - on land or at sea - variations of outside temperature (and soon the humidity and temperatures), whether the container is impacted (and how intensely) and whether / when it is opened or closed.
The system therefore enables shippers to track their containers, thereby more efficiently planning their logistics chains and, if necessary, taking action in case of unforeseen events. CMA CGM also notes in the statement issued about the launch that the TRAXENS by CMA CGM offer also includes follow-up by a dedicated team to read the data obtained and advise the shippers.
"With almost 19 million containers transported in 2017, the generalization of" intelligent "containers in the Group's fleet will allow us to collect and analyze a lot of information needed to improve customer service and help them to improve their supply chains," he commented , by the way, Mathieu Friedberg, Senior Vice President Commercial and Agency Network, quoted by the press office.
