Dockworkers announce strike to the ships of the sousa group
Portugal
The Seal, the dockworkers union, announced today a strike notice to apply from next 16th and until 1 June. The Sousa group is particularly targeted.
The notice covers all major national ports - with the exception of viana do castelo and aveiro - but it is noted that it is more 'Soft' on the port of setúbal, where recently the seal concluded an agreement with port operators Which allowed the recovery of operations.
On the basis of the new strike notice, the alleged anti-Union practices are maintained in some ports, particularly in the caniçal and Victoria Beach. But the dockers union recalls that it is still waiting for the 'satisfaction of the commitments made at the time of signing the agreement on the port of setúbal - especially with regard to the ports of leixões and Lisbon'
The Main Novelty is therefore that it aims, in particular, at an economic group, in the case of the sousa group, with the refusal to provide work on any ship, boxlines or PCI Ship.
In addition, the announced stoppage will take place in most ports during the first 72 hours after entry into the area of jurisdiction of ships operated in the ports of the caniçal or the third party using foreign workers to the profession (in the first case) or Hired after the start of the last strike (on 28 July last), in the second. And when it comes to ships diverted from other ports / terminals on strike.
In the port of caniçal, in particular, the strike will happen whenever foreign workers are employed. In the case of victory beach, the stoppage will apply to additional work and whenever foreign workers are employed or hired after 26 July 2018.
In Setúbal, the paralysis will only occur in the situation of ships diverted from other ports.
The Seal's associated dockworkers have been on strike for additional work since August last year until the beginning of this year.
