Government without immediate proposals for transporters
Portugal
The transport associations met on Wednesday with the government and received a negotiation protocol that, according to the president of the National Association of Portuguese Transport Companies (ANTP) "has nothing for the immediate."

"They delivered a negotiation protocol, this protocol will be presented to ANTP members and they will make arrangements according to what they understand they want to do. We have measures that can be beneficial to the sector in the short and medium term, but for the immediate, which is when the sector needs, we do not have anything that will give us a breath here, "Márcio Lopes told Lusa at the end of meeting. The meeting was attended by the Government representative appointed to lead the working group, members of the Mobility and Transport Authority (AMT), the Institute of Mobility and Transport (IMT), the Tax Authority and representatives of ANTRAM and ANTP. The Secretary of State for Infrastructures was absent.

"They said they presented what they can do. I do not want to say that it is a disappointment, they will be associated with deciding whether it fits into what they want and expect. Everyone will make a decision and we will do what is outlined, "said Márcio Lopes. The ANTP president said that many of the issues on the bill were addressed, but declined to elaborate on the negotiating protocol. ANTP and ANTRAM are expected to respond to the protocol proposal this Monday. The two associations of road hauliers demand, among other measures, the regulation of the sector, the creation of a Secretariat of State dedicated exclusively to Transport, the obligation to pay within a maximum period of 30 days and the creation of a mechanism for the inflation is also reflected in the transport sector.

The bill also calls for the price of transport to be indexed to fuel prices, better working conditions for drivers and discounts on tolls.
