Guipuzcoa wants more truck tolls
Portugal
The Diputacion de Guipuzcoa is preparing the installation of more porticos for the electronic collection of tolls for trucks in the N-1, denounces the Fenadismer.
The new gates will be installed in Astigarraga and Andoaín, in practice by extending toll collection for heavy vehicles, despite the decision of the Basque Country Court declaring the tolls on the N-1 and a-15 illegal. While awaiting the decision on the appeal it filed with the Supreme Court, the government of Guipuzcoa not only maintains the toll collection but intends to extend it.
At the same time, and in anticipation of a possible unfavorable decision, the authorities will be preparing changes to the rules on toll collection, which Fenadismer says is an attempt to disguise the discriminatory nature of the current regulation. Introduced in January, truck tolls in the Basque Country were declared illegal in April but remain in force. In the first four months they yielded half of the forecast for the whole year.
