In just one week, Yilport Leixões reaches 14,652 TEU
Portugal
Leixões has been in the limelight: the year 2017 ended with an annual record of cargo handling, followed by an excellent record in the first six months of 2018, a record that seems to run well beyond the semester, as the data show for July, made available by AMT last Friday.

Much of this success in the handling of goods is supported by the incessant productivity of Yilport Leixões, a concessionaire that manages containerized cargo operations at the container terminal at the northern port. Week 36, from September 3 to 9, again reflected its operational efficiency.

This week, Yilport Leixões received and operated 28 vessels, which led to a "handling of 8833 containers, corresponding to 14,652 TEU," the concessionaire said. The busiest days (day 8) of the week reached a 'handling of 1766 containers (2870 TEU), resulting from the operation of eight ships'. "In the 36th week Yilport Leixões also received the reception of 2898 containers and the dispatch of another 3966, in a total of more 6864 units moved by road or rail", the company announced, through a message posted online and which Cargo Magazine had access.

During 2018, the port of Leixões has been a stronghold of resistance in the slowdown of port handling in most commercial ports, with a special focus on the container segment: the latest AMT figures show that, in the global fall of -5.6% TEU between January and July, Leixões, with the help of Yilport Leixões, managed to grow 1% year-on-year.
