Leixões and Setúbal will have scanner equipment for container inspection
Portugal
The Port of Leixões and the Port of Setúbal will be able to count on scanner equipment for the non-intrusive inspection of containers by the Customs Tax Authority (TA).

This equipment represents a total investment of 3.6 million euros, supported by the Fund for Internal Security and the Hercule III Program, with a maximum national funding of two million euros and also includes maintenance services until 2022.

The government regards this investment as 'essential to meet the needs for control at the terminals' in these two ports 'which have a considerable movement of containers', both for customs fraud and for security and safety controls.

The authorization of this investment was made through an ordinance, published yesterday, September 17, in Diário da República and it is planned to hold an international public tender, with the charges spread over the next four years.
