My Happiness. How much is the happiness of the employees of a company?

Portuguese technology PHC Software has launched the My Happiness program to develop the attitude towards happiness in its employees.

The guarantee is given by Ricardo Parreira, CEO of Portuguese technology PHC Software, who has just launched the new My Happiness human resources program to develop the attitude towards happiness in its employees. "Let's train people for happiness. Happiness can and should be trained as well as optimism, and there are techniques and tactics for it. In leadership, happiness is very important, but both leaders and employees must have the notion that happiness begins within us. We want to change the very Portuguese idea that "someone has to make me happy". We work to reverse this mentality, "said the CEO in an interview with Dinheiro Vivo, ensuring that there is in fact a direct relationship between the levels of happiness in the company and the financial indicators of the same. "With My Happiness we will get a better company with better profits and results." With a nine-month duration, this program began in July with the realization of several focus groups with all the company's units, to evaluate what contributes most positively and negatively to the happiness of the workers. My Happiness also includes an individual evaluation with the objective of defining the indicator of well-being of each of the participants (volunteers) in relation to the four factors associated with happiness: self-esteem, optimism, interpersonal relations and self-realization. In practice, the program will be developed through a number of initiatives, including preparation meetings, thematic initiatives, mindfulness meditation sessions, emotional intelligence training for leaders, a mural of happiness, among others.
 
 
As is already the case with worldwide giants such as Google, Heinz, P & G, Philips, among many others, PHC Software's offices in Oeiras this week hosted the first session of mindfulness meditation, an age-old practice adapted to the present day. proposes a reduction of levels of stress and anxiety through the training of "mindfulness in the present moment, without judgment, and having the breath as an anchor." This was the explanation given by the trainer João Palma, from the BudaDharma center, to the 12 PHC employees who for these days voluntarily dedicated one hour of their work day to learn more about mindfulness.
 
"We live in a society where there are increasing demands and pressures. People begin to feel overwhelmed, hyper-stimulated, and it begins to be harder to be present at every moment. The proposal of mindfulness is, given a difficulty, to choose how we want to react. I can not change the difficulty, but the way I relate to it, "explained João Palma in statements to Cash Vivo, stressing that this holds true for an unpleasant email, a more tense meeting or a phone call with bad news. Hence, companies are increasingly showing a "genuine concern to promote well-being among workers."
