Ports move 14.7 million tons until February with records in Leixões and Aveiro.
The new AMT data on the port movement in Portuguese ports account for a processing of 14.7 million tonnes of cargo in the first two months of 2018, a year-on-year loss of -1.28 million tonnes to 2017. This result is a follow-up to the losses already reported in the balance sheet of January of this year, but it is worth highlighting the record values ??obtained by the ports of Leixões and Aveiro.
Leixões and Aveiro with «the highest load volume ever in homologous periods»
In the document made available by the entity, one can glimpse the 'different performance of the various ports, especially Leixões and Aveiro, which recorded the highest volume of cargo ever in the homologous periods, after respective increases of + 5% and + 21.6%. Positive registrations also extend to the ports of Figueira da Foz, Lisbon and Setúbal, with changes of + 26.4%, + 3.9% and + 3.3%, respectively.
The port of Sines, the national leader, "showed a decrease of -19.1%, corresponding to about -1.7 million tons, completely absorbing the sum of the positive variations recorded", says the AMT. This register is blessed, it should be noted, by the 'notable peak of activity' presented by the port of Alentejo in the same period of 2017.
