Portugal will present inaugural measures to decarbonise transport.
Portugal
Portugal will present in Canada the first four measures of the 'Alliance for the Decarbonization of Transport' (TDA), an initiative launched last May in the German city of Leipzig during the International Transport Forum (ITF).

The Portuguese Ministry of the Environment explained in a statement that the movement will take a position with the European Commission on the new regulation that establishes the emission rules for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The TDA will subsequently initiate legal proceedings before the United Nations, the European Community, C40, G7 and G20, 'to demonstrate that decarbonisation of transport is technically feasible, economically appealing and capable of providing social and environmental benefits by sharing the best practices'. According to the Economic Newspaper in its online edition of May 31, the Assistant Secretary of State and the Environment, José Gomes Mendes, will state in Canada that TDA has already chosen the first 'Community of Interests', dedicated to the dossier of the 'Green Urban Logistics'.

The 'TDA Roadmap for the Decarbonization of Transport' will also be in the planning stage, due to be presented in early September.

TDA is composed of Costa Rica, Finland, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Portugal), five cities (Rotterdam, Lisbon, Porto, Gaia, Matosinhos) and six business groups (Alstom, CEiiA, EDP, ITAIPU Binacional, Michelin, and PTV).

Its members agreed to "work together to accelerate the decarbonisation of the transport sector, whose emissions account for 25% of total greenhouse gas emissions, thus contributing to compliance with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change Climate, which aims at zero net emissions in the second half of the century, "the Environment Ministry said in a statement.

"The Alliance for the Decarbonization of Transport is based on the commitments and ambition of heads of state, mayors and CEOs, in an unprecedented initiative that joins in a common effort and coordinated countries, cities and companies, to decarbonize transport before of 2050, aiming at the emissions of all means of transport of passengers and goods, including land, air and sea transport ", concludes the communiqué.
