The price of fuel again becomes more expensive next week. The evolution of prices in euros points to a rise in prices - more pronounced in gas oil than in gasoline. "Starting Monday, gas oil increases to two cents, while gasoline is worth 1.5 cents per liter," the industry source told the newspaper.
 
The increases will be felt both in the pumps of the main gas stations and in the hypermarkets, where "the increases are around 1.5 cents per liter in the case of gas oil and one cent per liter for gasoline," he said. another source.
According to data from the General Directorate of Energy and Geology (DGEG), the average price of the liter of gasoline in Portugal currently costs 1,551 euros while that of diesel fuel costs 1,339 euros. Quotations may however vary at the filling stations, as the price set in the network also takes into account the level of competition, supply and demand in each market and the level of fixed costs of each station.
 
The latest Brussels report shows that, after taxes, the average price of 95 octane petrol practiced in Portugal is the fifth most expensive in the EU. On the other hand, diesel occupies the 9th position among the countries of the community space. The same data show that taxation is the factor that weighs most on fuel prices in Portugal.
 
Among the 28 Member States, the average reference price for gasoline is around EUR 1.382 per liter, while 'diesel' is EUR 1.278 per liter. Already in the euro zone, a liter of gasoline costs 1,428 euros and a liter of diesel fuel costs 1,277 euros.
