Professional drivers among the most needy professions according to Manpower study
Portugal
In its annual study (the Talent Shortage Survey), Manpower notes that from year to year it is increasingly difficult for companies to recruit talent into their organizations, with drivers for long-distance transportation, whether for distribution or even for civil construction).
Manpower also points out that although the wave and automation that appears to be coming in may overcome many of the current needs, the fact is that, over the last ten years, the ten professions with the lowest (such as electricians, welders, mechanics), secondly the sales representatives (B2B, B2C, contact centers), thirdly the engineers (chemical, electrical, civil and mechanical), fourth drivers and fifth (quality control, technical staff, etc.).
The company also points out that the lack of drivers and customer service personnel may be related to increased consumption, especially e-commerce, which motivates a dedicated last-mile delivery logistics.
As regards Portugal, this study indicates that the difficulty in contracting increased when compared to the last registration (in 2017), this difficulty being above the average of the countries analyzed, in a list led by Japan and, in general, this difficulty has increasing ever since 2009.
