Will the electric car save the world?
Portugal
"Let's make electricity so cheap that only the rich will burn candles."

Thomas Edison's phrase, applied to the age of the electric revolution in mobility, can mean just that. An energy paradigm shift. A world that moves on gasoline and diesel will start to move the electricity. A world that moves to fossil fuels, with the consequent emissions and carbon footprint, will move to cleaner and more efficient energies.

But it will only be possible, as in Edison's time, when we can produce and market electric mobility so cheaply that only the rich will burn gasoline. The age of electric mobility, whether it is individual transportation or commercial or collective transportation, is a tremendous challenge, but it is no longer a matter of mere debate on social networks between electric mobility enthusiasts and their detractors. The electric car, for example, is no longer even a mirage. It's an inevitability. Proof of this is that the world's top automakers are preparing to launch dozens of new electric models and spend billions on research.

It remains only to know the speed with which this energy paradigm transition will be made and the consequences that this revolution will bring to the economy, geopolitics and people's lives. Once again, it will be the economic impulse, tempered with environmental concerns and policies, to be the engine of this transition. The decarbonization of the economy is starting to be a new economic activity and this is the best guarantee that it will even happen. Briefly electric cars will have extended autonomy, fast shipments, affordable prices and advantageous conditions of acquisition and circulation. When that happens, the era of fossil fuels in the world of mobility will have its days counted.

Obviously many questions and obstacles are placed in this inexorable way, as they were put in the beginning of the century. XX to the massification and democratization of the automobile. Many of the consequences and side effects of automation and automation are still to be measured. From energy resources, raw materials such as lithium, through the colossal effort of infrastructure of road networks and the cities themselves. But one thing is certain, this path is already irreversible.

The new era of mobility is one of the most disruptive and passionate themes of the coming years. Intelligent mobility is a mobility that saves people time, resources to organizations and governments, and impacts the planet. It's a new age for happier mobility.
